Rederij Kornet and Amasus Shipping welcome the mv. Eems Solar.
The mv. Eems Solar is built by Van der Plas Shipbuilding BV on the yardlocation of Hong Ha Shipbuilding at Vietnam. Commissioning and co-designers of this type of ship are Rederij Kornet Werkendam and Amasus Shipping BV.

The mv. Eems Solar is the 10th vessel from a highly succesful series of 12 vessels of the Eems-2600tons type. The series is built within a period of 3 years at Vietnam. In cooperation with Van der Plas Shipbuilding BV and some European subcontractors, Rederij Kornet and Amasus Shipping BV have invested in the development of the Vietnamese shipping industry.

The delivery of mv. Eems Sprinter in June 2007, the first vessel of this type, marked a milestone for the Vietnamese shipping industry. Just recently, in June 2010, the mv. Eems Sprinter had her first Intermediate Survey at the drydock at Harlingen. It turned out that the quality of the vessel, including the conservations, are excellent.

The average size of the Short Sea fleet is increasing rapidly, due to the scaling what can be noted on the delivered new built vessels. The current world-wide order book indicates that this enlargement will continue to an average of far over 6000 ton Dwat.

Due to these dimensions, vessels of this average size cannot be deployed in the market segments in which Amasus and her partners have been active since 1981. This natural brake on increases in scale has protected the Sea and River Shipping segment from overcapacity. Investments in this segment are very carefully done by specialists.

The dimensions of the mv. Eems Solar are: Dwt 2650 ; Loa 87,20 ; Beam 11,45 ; Draught 4,26 ; Airdraught 8,70 ; Mainengine ABC-1100kW.

The delivery of the mv. Eems Spirit and the mv. Eems Stream, respectively builtnumbers 11 and 12 of this series are expected on the first and the last week of August 2010.

Barends Wijnne ordered series of six sea-river vessels at Groningen Shipyards

Next week Groningen Shipyards Waterhuizen begins the construction of six Sea-River Liner 3000 (88 x13, 40 meters) for shipping company Wijnne Barends, Delfzijl. The ships are understood for the sea-river trade and the equipment meets with all requirements for sea and inland vessels. Thanks to the aqua dynamic shape the 3000-ton vessels with a 746 kW (1015pk) main engine will have a speed of 10 knots.

ARA region
The ships are expected to be seen regularly in the ARA region, on the Rhine and the Seine. In addition they will sail into UK ports, which are also often on a river, like Ipswich and London. In order to keep a low air draught, the ships have a retractable wheelhouse. "We want these sea-river vessels to have the widest possible deployment”. says Coordinator of Ship Management Jan Oudman of Wijnne and Barends. "In summer they can also sail the Baltic and the Mediterranean Sea." The ships are not suitable for container shipping. The ships have been designed for bulk cargoes such as grain and also wood can be carried. With 3000 tons the ships have a draft of 4.30 meters. They can carry up to 3700 tonnes at 4.90 meters.

Captain-owners
One reason for the ships to be built entirely in the Netherlands is that they are intended for captain-owners. "With the recently built 3500-series, we saw that the owners did not like the Chinese finish. That's why we build in the Netherlands. Then captain-owners can choose their own interior," says Oudman. "We have high expectations of these ships. We build them countercyclical at a competitive price. The assessed value is higher than the construction costs. We expect the market will improve and that construction prices will soon rise again. "

Coasters Wijnne Barends contracted

Groningen Shipyard along the Winschoterdiep in the northern part of the Netherlands won early this year the contract for building a series of 6 versatile seagoing MPC vessels of 3700 dwt also suitable for sailing the rivers Rhine and Seine. Groot Ship Design, in close coopeartion with Conoship, took care of the design. The final design is a result of a close cooperation before contract between designers, owner and shipyard resulting in a unique vessel with respect to cargo intake, speed and installed power. The vessels are powerd through a Caterpillar main engine delivering max 746 kW to the fixed pitch propeller. The propeller is running in a nozzle and is designed by Wartsila Propulsion, providing sufficient trust in severe conditions enabling the vessel to maintain speed for as long as possible. The vessels bodylines are a result of a program executed with CFD calculations at Van Oossanen and Associates and a model test program at MARIN in close cooperation with DST in Duisburg. The combination of all experts involved paid off with optimum bodylines for the required design condition and a speed of 10 knots.

The shipyard rewarded Groot Ship Design with a contract not only for design of the vessel, but also with a contract for the complete engineering uptil production information of the hull structure and the vessels systems and piping. This way of working guarantees optimum execution of both disciplines and short delivery times. Approx 4 months after signing the contract the first steel for the midship section was deliverd to the shipyard enabling the shipyard to start production as early as possible. The first vessel is planned to be deliverd within one year from contract and the sistervessels are scheduled with just a few weeks in between. In a late stage of the engineering it was decided to change the fixed superstructure into a configuration with a moveable wheelhouse on a column. Groot Ship Design handled the change order with great flexibility enabling the yard to keep the delivery program as contracted.

Tharsis Sea-River Shipping researches feasibility of innovative Diesel-Electric sea-rivership

With help from the SMI-Subsidy, Dutch shipping company Tharsis Sea-River Shipping has performed research into the feasibility of building a sustainable sea-river ship with diesel-electric propulsion.
The sailing profile of a ship in the sea-river trade was established and shipyard De Kaap from Meppel, the Netherlands, analyzed the figures. Research was done to establish if there could be actual savings with this type of propulsion.

The positive outcome of the results have proven that there will be a reduction of fuel consumption and harmful emissions of nearly 20% per ton/kilometer. This is realized by combining three fuelefficiënt, clean generatorengines, 2 electric propulsionengines, the innovative D&A EProp system, and an optimized underwater hullshape which is suitable for sea-as well as rivertrading. If less propulsionpower is needed, with this system enginepower can be switched off to save fuel. The ship is equipped fully redundant and can be used at sea as well as on the main European inland waterways. Cargoes can be transported from within sight of the sender/receiver. This way road and railway transport is being relieved. An extremely low airdraft and small draft at maximum cargo intake make this possible. Fuel and oiltanks not in touch with outside plating increase the safety for the environment.
Further research has been done into finding a clean alternative for the common harbor generator. This will be replaced by a smaller, more fuel efficient generator. This is made possible by fitting the ship with energy efficient equipment. A fuel and emissions reduction of 75% can be reached this way. If incidentally more power is needed the emergency generator or propulsion generator can be started.

Following the feasibility research and it’s positive outcome, Tharsis Sea-River Shipping has decided to realize the developed “green” ship at shipyard de Kaap. Planned delivery of the ship will be summer 2012.

Hallo,

Op de navolgende links kwam ik er achter dat er nieuwe kruiplijners gebouwd gaan worden.
http://www.saltwater.nl/projects/138-va ... aster.html en
http://www.shipbuilding.nu/references.html

Groet,

Jaap de Waard
